HOWLIDAY CAROLING
Capitola Village, Sat Dec 21 3:30 PM
------------------------------------
Chesapeakes napping by an open fire, Jack Russells nipping at their
toes...
Meet at Moondoggies & Bring your dog to sing along.
207 Monterey Ave., Capitola
Come join us for some howliday family fun!
Council Review
--------------
Thursday Dec 12 7PM at City Hall - PLEASE ATTEND!
Council will review the 1 year old dog on leash in parks ordinance.
Council needs to know that you support the change - please come and
speak in your dog's behalf. Police Chief Ehle reports that there have
been no complaints, although enforcement has increase and 69 licensing
tickets, and 22 dog on beach tickets were issued.
New Board Members
-----------------
We would like to welcome new board members, Kathy Kelly and Becky Brady.
Kathy can be found down on the Esplanade almost daily with her Bernese
Mountain Dog, Sadie and her Yorkie, Kipper. Becky is the owner of Moondoggies
and is well cared for by her rare Coton de Tulears, Mia and Milo. Both
Kathy and Becky have been very active in the dog community and we look
forward to having them on our Board!
2003 Calendar
-------------
Springtime Parade!
------------------
We are planning great things for our springtime gala parade! Better
start planning your costumes now. Here's a hint - several of the winners
had dog/owner look alike costumes. We are hearing rumors of a canine
wedding being planned for that day!
Meet the Trainer
----------------
Trainer - Cherie Maitland of Our Furry Friends
Sat January 11th, 2003, 2 PM at Moondoggies
Bring your behavior questions about the challenges you face with your
dog:
Digging, Barking, Socialization, House Breaking, Destructiveness, Reliable
Recall (Come Command)
Look forward to 'Meet the Trainer' events every other month at Moondoggies
in 2003!
Canine Good Citizen Tests
-------------------------
Plans are in the works to hold Canine Good Citizen Tests at Pet Pals
in 2003. If your dog can walk by your side without lunging, stand still
while you greet someone and allow their feet to be touched, these are
some of the activities they will be tested on. If you would like to
receive a brochure or more information, contact us.
Community Clean Ups
-------------------
C-DOG will be holding clean up days in 2003 every other month.
We continue to need to lend a bag to the folks who forget theirs, to
maintain our canine good citizen's reputation. The Esplanade Park (both
upper and lower) needs special attention as it is a popular hang out.
If you can't make it to a clean up day, just clean up as you walk your
dog. It all helps!
2002 in Review
--------------
Capitola celebrated our first ever canine Easter parade in March and
it was a huge success with press coverage and attendees from Monterey
to the San Francisco area. Several attendees from 'over the hill' walked
off with some of our big prizes - leaving us with a challenge!
We held 3 Meet the Trainer events this year and 10 Community Clean
Up Days. The events received press coverage all over the county and
were well attended.
