Metered Parking & Directions Metered Parking Lot Metered parking is available in the Pacific Cove parking lot behind city hall, approximately one quarter mile (4 short blocks) from downtown and the beach. There are 250 spaces in the parking lot. The meters are good for 12 hours and the cost is 50 cents per hour as of February 2002. Free Shuttle Bus In the summer, a free shuttle bus is provided from New Brighton/Park Avenue exit (approximately two miles south of Capitola on Highway 1) to the Capitola Beach and Esplanade. Directions From San Jose Airport Take Highway 880 (also called Highway 17) going south for approximately 30 miles toward Santa Cruz. Turnoff on Highway 1 South for approximately 5 miles. Take the Capitola/Soquel exit. Turn right onto Bay Avenue. At the second stop sign, turn right on Capitola Avenue. Continue for 2 blocks, the City Parking lot is behind city hall on the left hand side Follow the signs Directions From the Monterey Area Take Highway 1 North toward Santa Cruz for approximately 40 miles Take the Capitola/Soquel exit. Turn left under the freeway bridge onto Bay Avenue. At the second stop sign, turn right on Capitola Avenue. Continue for 2 blocks, the City Parking lot is behind city hall on the left hand side Follow the signs Traffic Save plenty of time for the trip over the hill and back. Beach traffic can be slow. Please don't be a litterbug! Keep our beaches clean and fun
